ОТ МАХАЛЛИ К ИЗОЛЯЦИИ: ВЛИЯНИЕ МАЛОГАБАРИТНОГО ЖИЛЬЯ НА СОЦИАЛЬНУЮ СРЕДУ В УСЛОВИЯХ СОВРЕМЕННОЙ УРБАНИЗАЦИИ

Abstract

This article examines the impact of mass construction of small apartments on the social structure of urban communities in Tashkent. Particular attention is paid to the transformation of the traditional way of life of the mahalla - as a form of local socio-cultural interaction - in the context of modern architectural and economic practice. The author draws on observations and data from a small field study to raise issues of social isolation, weakening neighbourhood ties and changing psychological climates in new housing estates.
